Functional narrative    

MAP2 is thought to be associated with stabilizing or assisting in microtubule assembly by interacting with both alpha and β-tubulin. This protein may be located in the cytosol, and also in association with the plasma membrane or axons. Many isoforms of MAP2 protein exist.
