Functional narrative

NF-L is a member of the type IV cytoplasmic intermediate filament protein family. NF-L, along with two additional members of this group, NF-M and NF-H, combine to form neurofilaments which maintain neural function. It is predominately coiled-coil in structure, however the tail domain is disordered.
