Comments

Also known as PsbO, OEE33, or 33 kDa extrinsic polypeptide of photosystem II. This extrinsic subunit is found in photosystem II of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is required to maintain the stability of the tetranuclear Mn cluster that catalyzes water oxidation. A low resolution (3.5 A) structure of the bound subunit in cyanobacterial photosystem II is available (PDB 1S5L; manganese stabilizing protein is labeled PsbO in the structure).
